Our Scripture reading today is Romans 6:17-18.
Verse 18, "Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness."
This verse is in essence the goal of the RU ministry. We can be free of any addictions and sinful habits in order that we might live in righteousness for the glory of God. As born again believers, we do not have to sin. Verse 17 gives a key statement to this transformation taking place - "Ye have obeyed from the heart". When followers of Jesus Christ is willing to obey the commands and instructions of God's Word, they will see victory after victory in those areas of life where they once struggled.
As we live our lives no longer a slave to sin, we will discover each day to be filled with joy and peace. Trading in the shackles of sin for shackles of righteousness is a much better way to live. We are no longer seeking to have our will fulfilled. Instead, it is our goal to be fully surrendered to the will of God. There is no place more fulfilling than the centre of God's will.
