Our Scripture reading today is Romans 6:3-4.

Verse 4, "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

When someone turns to Jesus Christ for salvation, they are 100% assured of eternal life.  A sinner is and always will be saved by grace through faith.  The next step for a believer is to be baptized.  Our text today describes some of the symbolism of Biblical baptism.  As we go under the water, it is a picture of Jesus being buried in the tomb.  As we come out of the water, it is a picture of Jesus resurrection.

If we have been saved and baptized it should be seen in the way we live our lives.  Notice the end of verse 4, "We should walk in newness of life."  There will be a change in the way we live our lives.  It is impossible to die and rise again (spiritually) and there not be changes.  Our walk and our talk should clearly indicate we have a new King ruling our life.
