Our Scripture reading today is John 8:1-9.
Verse 7, "So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her."
Yesterday, I started to read a book for the second time and this particular Bible event was referred to.  We find an amazing turn of events.  Jesus did not say to let this woman go, but He did demand that judgment be fairly and righteously applied.  It is not in the Scripture, but I wonder if there was talk of the man would have been caught in adultery as well.  Unfortunately, the attitude of these men was not for someone being restored, but using this sin to try and get Jesus to say or do something they could accuse Him of.
If we are confronting a sin it should be done with a broken heart not with anger or condemnation.  Jesus exposed these accusers who had a desire to punish someone else when they too had sins that needed to be dealt with.  Just this past Sunday morning we spoke about the prophet, Nathan, coming to King David with a story.  By the end of the story, King David was mad at someone who had committed a sin and yet, he still had unconfessed sin in his own life.  It is always easier to point our finger or throw rocks at someone else who has sinned than it is to humbly repent of our sin.
We need to put our fingers and rocks down and seek the Lord's forgiveness for our own sin.  Thankfully, He is always ready to forgive and restore.
