Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 6:24, "No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon."
What is the driving force in your life? Do you have any time for serving the Lord? The answer to these questions and others will help us understand what Jesus is getting at in our verse for today. Jesus is preaching the greatest sermon ever preached - The Sermon on the Mount. For many today, their job is the ruling factor and driving force in life. While we all need some form of earning a living, it cannot be what leads our life. A little further into the sermon Jesus says in verse 33, "But seek ye FIRST the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
