Our Scripture reading today is Luke 4:5-8.
Verse 8, "And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve."
The confrontation with Satan continues and the subject turns to worship.  Would Jesus give in to the temptation of being given all the kingdoms of the world?  The answer is a resounding, NO!  He could not and would not give in to any temptations of the devil.
Satan continues to use this temptation in our lives today.  We see the "kingdoms" of this world and they look very enticing.  The kingdoms I am referring to are not countries or lands.  These kingdoms might be a career, a job or a relationship.  If we are not on guard, we will find ourselves worshipping and serving our little kingdom instead of the one true God.  Anything that has more importance in our lives than our relationship with God has become an idol and must be torn down.  By torn down, I am saying they must be in their rightful place.  God provides us with employment and relationships.  These are good if they are in line behind our relationship with God.
