Our Scripture reading today is John 16:1-4.

Verse 1, "These things have I spoken unto you, that ye should not be offended."

Opposition to the cause of Jesus Christ is not something new.  The word offended in this verse has to do with to trip up or to entrap.  The Lord Jesus was giving His followers a preview of what was to come.  In fact, just about all of the original disciples were martyred for their identification with Him.  This opposition continues today.  In many places around the world, Christians are still be martyred.  This has never stopped since the days of Jesus Christ ministry.

As we consider the freedoms we still have here in Canada, what has the enemy used to trip you up or entrap you?  I am not sure of any of us can point to anything close to what the disciples would go through or even some Christians in 2020.  How willing are we to share our faith with others?  How willing are we to leave the comforts of Canada and preach the Gospel somewhere else?  Matthew 9:37, "Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;"
