Our Scripture reading today is Hebrews 11:8-10.
Verse 10, "For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God."
We, like Abraham, are looking for a place that we cannot see. We, like Abraham, are looking for a place that is being prepared by our Lord and Saviour. John 14:3, "And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again..." Abraham left us an example to follow. It is an example of faith. When Abraham looked, he looked by faith. He followed the leading of God by faith. Remember, Abraham did not have the more sure word of prophecy (Word of God) that we hold in our hands. God spoke to him and he had to trust Him.
Every day that we live, we are one day closer to our city built by God. This eternal dwelling place for all born again believers is free of sin and suffering, and it is filled with the praises of our loving Heavenly Father. What a time it will be Heaven! I say, we practice now for what Heaven will be like. There should be plenty of praise coming forth from our lips now! There should be plenty of worship coming forth from our hearts now! God alone is worthy of our praise and worship! Take time today to practice for eternity. Heaven is real and we are going there soon.
