Our Scripture reading today is Luke 11:11-13.

Verse 13, "If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?"

The instructions on the importance of prayer to His disciples ends with a comparison between an earthly father and our heavenly Father.  Any normal father will do his best to provide good things for his children.  This goes beyond food, shelter and clothing.  If you are a father, the most important gift you can give your children is a godly example.  They need to see in you that God is reigning in your life.  Does He have first place?

God has good gifts waiting for those who ask.  The greatest gift we can ever receive is eternal life.  Romans 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, shall be saved."  If we, by faith, ask God for salvation; He gives it to us.  We are spiritually born again into the family of God.  The very moment we are saved, God's Spirit begins to indwell us.  We have the gift of eternal life as well as the indwelling Spirit of God.  This begins a life-long journey with God meeting all of our needs!

Have a wonderful day.
