Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 3.
Verse 3, "But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head."
David makes a declarative statement that is also applicable to each of God's children.  He said the LORD was his shield and the LORD is also our shield.  It is the lie of the enemy that says God will not help us.  Satan is always looking for new ways to discourage and depress followers of Jesus Christ.  David in his day needed a shield and he knew exactly Who is shield was.  His confidence was in the ever loving and caring creator God.  Psalm 121:2, "My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth."  Psalm 33:20, "Our soul waiteth for the LORD: he is our help and our shield."
The LORD continues to be a shield to those who are following Him.  His shield remains strong and provides us with the protection we need from our cunning and ruthless enemy.  Our confidence is not to be placed in men, but in the God of Heaven.  He alone is able to deliver us from the roaring lion.  Psalm 84:11, "For the LORD God is a sun and shield: the LORD will give grace and glory: no good thing will he withhold from them that walk uprightly."
We should praise Him today for being our faithful shield!
