Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 5:34-37.

Verse 37, "But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil."

How good is your word?  When you promise to be somewhere or do something, do you follow through?  Can you be trusted to come through on something you commit to doing?  No one has a perfect record when it comes to keeping his or her word.  We are prone to fail in this area.  That being sad, it should be our goal to be people of our word.  The following quote about this passage is quite interesting to me, "The truly good man will never need to take an oath; the truth of his sayings and the reality of his promises need no such guarantee. But the fact that oaths are still sometimes necessary is the proof that men are not good men and that this is not a good world.” (Barclay)

I am thankful for every word of our Heavenly Father.  He has never gone back on His Word and isn't about to start with you or me.  Titus 1:2-3, "In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;."  We must follow His example and have the character and integrity to keep our word.  As an ambassador for Jesus Christ, I must represent Him well.

Have a good day.
