Our Scripture reading today is 1 Corinthians 1:18-19.
Verse 18, "For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God."
In a world filled with rulers of darkness, we are promised that the preaching of the cross gives us the power of God.  A symbol of death and suffering opened the door for our forgiveness as well as our daily victory.  We have power when the Gospel is preached and received by faith.  Romans 1:16, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
This power is available to any follower of Jesus Christ.  The need is great for God's people to walk in this power each and every day.  A little further into 1 Corinthians 1 we read in verse 24, "But unto them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God."  The power of God is accompanied by the wisdom of God.  This combination is something we need to be seeking God for time and time again.
