Today’s Scripture reading is Ezra 9:4-6.
Verse 5, "And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness..."
The prophet Ezra is greatly burdened by the sin of the people in their choosing to get close to the pagan nations.  This led to intermarriage as well as idolatry.  Ezra is taking his heaviness to God.  There is humility and confession.  His intercession for the people does make an impact.  Ezra 10:1, "Now when Ezra had prayed, and when he had confessed, weeping and casting himself down before the house of God, there assembled unto him out of Israel a very great congregation of men and women and children: for the people wept very sore."
We have this same opportunity to intercede on the behalf of our family, church, nation and world.  The devil is seeking to destroy.  The devil hates God and anyone that stands for God.  It is our responsibility to pray for our own repentance as well as others around us.  God is still giving much grace to the humble and we most certainly need it.
