Our Scripture reading today is Luke 18:1, 7, "And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?"
What a privilege it is to have access to the Creator of the universe.  As children of God, we are able to speak to Him through His Son.  1 Timothy 2:5, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;". The sacrificial death of Jesus Christ made and continues to make it possible for the redeemed to communicate with God the Father.
While there are many parts to prayer, the main emphasis of prayer is asking.  We are told repeatedly in the Scripture to ask.  John 16:24, "Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full."  Matthew 7:7, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:"  James 4:2, "Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not."  One of our text verses this morning reminds us that there is no bad time to bring our requests to God.  We are encouraged to come to Him day and night.  What are you waiting for?
