Our Scripture reading today is Luke 13:1-3.
Verse 3, "I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish."
Death is not something that we have written on our calendar on a certain day of the year.  The men in our text had no idea when they would die and neither do we.  It is certain that it is appointed unto men once to die and then there will be a judgement.  Just last night, I mentioned to someone the importance of preparing for death.  If I am prepared to die, I am also prepared to live.
If we are to avoid perishing in the lake of fire, we must turn away from our way and turn to the Lord Jesus for salvation.  It will not matter how much money we gave to charity or the church.  Did we have faith toward the Lord Jesus and repentance toward God?  It will not matter how many times we attended church.  Did we have faith toward the Lord Jesus and repentance toward God?
After we are saved, we are to continue to repent of sin in our lives.  It is vital that we live in the victory that only God's Spirit can provide.
