Our Scripture reading today is Daniel 1:5-8.
Verse 8, "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself."
A decision by Daniel was made before a decision had to be made.  Daniel had already decided that he would not comprise what he believed.  We might say that he had already determined to take a stand for his beliefs regardless of the consequences.  This bold stand is being taken by a young man.  Some believe Daniel to still be in his teen years.  Now we can see why Daniel was so quick to continue his prayer routine inspite of the new law that had been passed. (Yesterday's devotions)
I wonder how many reading this have already made some decisions about standing for your Biblical beliefs?  The time to purpose in our hearts is now.  If we were to wait until the times of testing, it might be too easy to cave in to the pressure.  It is my opinion that this isn't the first time Daniel lived his life on and with purpose.  A series of decisions brought him to this point in his life and he continues to live by his Godly principles.  I have often wondered about Daniel's parents and the influence they had in his life.  If you have children in the home, please take time to show and tell them how to live their life on and with purpose.
