Our Scripture reading today is Luke 10:27, "And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself."
True love for God will be seen more in our actions than in our words. While love does need to be voiced, it is clearly identified by our actions. Far too many people say they love God, but how they are living their lives does not match what they are saying.
If we love God, we will love what God loves. We will love His Word (by reading, studying and obeying it), His church (by faithfully attending, giving, and serving), and His family. The verse goes on to say that we will also love our neighbour. The love we have for God will spill over into the lives of those around us. Our love for God is crucial to the rest of our Christian life being what it ought to be.
