Our Scripture reading today is Proverbs 17:10, "A reproof entereth more into a wise man than an hundred stripes into a fool."
A true friend is someone who will lovingly tell me when I am wrong.  If I am wise, I will listen to and accept the reproof.   If I am a fool, I will disregard the counsel and continue to make the same mistake over and over again.  The difference between the fool and the wise man is that one receives correction and one does not.  One is willing to listen and one is not.  King David accepted the reproof of Nathan and repented of his sin.  Pharaoh hardened his heart at the reproof of Moses and brough great destruction to the people of Egypt.
Psalm 141:5, "Let the righteous smite me; it shall be a kindness: and let him reprove me; it shall be an excellent oil, which shall not break my head: for yet my prayer shall also be in their calamities."
Seek to live every day in humility.  Be willing to listen to the reproof someone is giving you and thank them for their love and concern.
