Our Scripture reading today is Luke 18:24-25.

Verse 25, "For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God."

A humorous but sobering illustration is presented by the Lord Jesus.  A camel going through the eye of a needle is obviously impossible.  The point is that riches can be a great hindrance to someone coming to the place of recognizing his or her need of a Saviour.  Their riches could be the reason they never tunr to Jesus Christ for salvation.  Riches tend to be a false saviour and a sense of security.  We know that riches can fly away suddenly and then what would we have?

The Gospel message must be taken to all.  It matters not whether someone has everything materially or very little.  We must speak the truth in love to everyone.  This statement of the Lord Jesus can be seen in our day as well.  It should not discourage us from taking truth to every neighbourhood, but it should be a warning as to where our trust is being placed.
