Our Scripture reading today is James 1:22-25.
Verse 25, "But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed."
When we open the Word of God, we are opening a perfect Book.  It is God's holy, inspired Word.  He provided us everything we needed to live the victorious Christian life.  The key is application.  Are we willing to be a "doer of the work" or are we allowing things or people to cause us to become a "forgetful hearer?"  The more we continue in His Word, the better.  “Takes time to see and examine the state of his soul, the grace of his God, the extent of his duty, and the height of the promised glory. The metaphor here is taken from those females who spend much time at their glass, in order that they may decorate themselves to the greatest advantage, and not leave one hair, or the smallest ornament, out of its place.” Clarke
Maybe we should continue in His Word a little longer today.  Maybe we should cast down imaginations and high things that are being exalted in our lives above the LORD Jesus.  Let's not overlook the promise at the end of the verse - "This man shall be blessed in his deed."  God does not need your finances, but you need God's blessings.  God does not need my time, but I need God's blessings.  It's time to choose us this day who we will serve.
