Our Scripture reading today is Hebrews 12:1-2.
Verse 1, "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,"
Every born again believer has a race that has been set before them. We ought to be running our race for the glory of God. For this to happen, we need to follow the instructions given in verse one of our text. There are weights and sins that need to be removed from our lives. They are hindering us from bringing God glory in our race of life.
Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal any and all weights and sins in your life that need to be confessed and forsaken. It may be that you already know what they are and you are unwilling to surrender them. Now is the time to repent and turn back to God. Now is the time to humble ourselves before the Lord. He is ready and willing to forgive. Casting off the weights and sins will allow us to run our race and honour the Lord.
