Our Scripture reading today is Hosea 11:1-3.
Verse 2, "...they sacrificed unto Baalim, and burned incense to graven images."
How could Israel worship false gods? How could they go this far away from the One true God? Why didn’t they remember all that He had done for them? Baalim and those graven images didn't do anything for the children of Israel. Verses like the ones we read
this morning are great reminders at how quickly God's people can stray away into idolatry. The names of the idols have changed, but idolatry is still an issue for the child of God. Anyone or anything that we allow more authority in our life than God and His Word, is an idol. When we consider all that God has done for us in a physical and eternal way, how can we offer our worship to anyone else? For many, their number one idol is SELF. Unfortunately we forget that without God, we are nothing. Today would be a good day to rededicate yourself to your heavenly Father and His will for your life. He loves you!
