Our Scripture reading today is Luke 14:34-35.

Verse 34, "Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned?"

Do the people around us know we are Christians?  Do our co-workers and friends know that we are followers of Jesus Christ?  If we are salty Christians (and we should be), our testimony will be known by those closest to us.  The savour of our testimony will permeate all of our relationships.  This does not mean we are to be prideful and boastful in the way we live around lost people.  It does mean that we are unwilling to follow them into sin or something that would ruin our testimony.

An unsavoury Christian is someone who shows little to no difference from his or her worldly friends.  The sacrifice Jesus Christ made for us was not so we could stay the same after we are saved.  There should be a noticeable difference in an unbeliever and a believer.  It is not in us where the difference is found, it is found in Jesus Christ!  By the grace of God, let's be the salt of the earth we were saved to be!

Matthew 5:13, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men."
