Today's Scripture reading is Ephesians 4:13-15.
Verse 15 - "But speaking the truth in love..."
In considering these verses, I am thankful that we have been given the Word of God. We have the truth. It is this truth that continues to change our lives. Our faith is strengthened by the Word of God. Romans 10:17, "So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." God's Word is settled and secure. God's Word is a spiritual weapon that we must use to defend ourselves against the wiles of the devil. (Hebrews 4:12)
We cannot overlook Paul's emphasis on how the truth is to be declared. "Speaking the truth in love." We have the truth today because of God's love. (Romans 5:8) The lost world needs to see the love of God in and through us. The foundation for everything we do must be our love of God. The more my love for God increases the more I will love the lost world. A love for sinners will flow out of my love for God. My love for God can be seen in my obedience to His Word. (John 14:15) Do you get the idea that the Word of God is vital to be a Christian and to live the Christian life?
