Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 73:24, "Thou shalt guide me with thy counsel, and afterward
receive me to glory."
When someone trusts Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour, they are not left to figure
everything out from there. The newborn child of God is given the Spirit of God to
dwell in them until Christ returns or God calls them home to Heaven. God's Spirit is
always available to give counsel about life's challenges. It is very important that we
keep the channel clear between us and the Holy Spirit. While His counsel is always available,
the problem is when we do not ask for it or cannot hear it. Feelings are not to be
trusted. They can change faster than the weather. Sin gets in the way and we can no
longer hear clearly what God's counsel is. Repentance and humility can get things
cleared up and we will be able to hear clearly what God would have us do.
If you need counsel, the first step is to get fully right with God. The next step is to
start following God's revealed will in His Word. Finally, ask for His counsel and be
willing to be led by His Spirit.
