Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 1:20, 24-25.
Verse 24, "Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife:"
A character from the birth of Jesus Christ that we could overlook is Joseph. In fact, from what I can tell there is nothing recorded in Scripture of what Joseph said. God willing, we will be preaching about this "just man" on Sunday morning. These few verses we read this morning speak of Joseph's actions. They definitely have some to say about being obedient to the Word of God. While he could have allowed his emotions to get the best of him, Joseph made a wise decision to do what the angel of the Lord had told him to do.
Over the last 12 months, what has taken place in your life that took you by surprise? Regardless of how long or short your list is, I can assure you that God has a plan in all of it and He is faithful. As with Joseph, it is in your best interest to follow the leading of God's Spirit when making decisions. God's Spirit will always lead us according to God's Word. Let's ask His help in being obedient today!
