Our Scripture reading today is 1 Peter 2:21-25.

Verse 22, "Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:"

The standard we are to measure ourselves with is not our spouse, siblings or co-workers.  Our standard of conduct is the Lord Jesus Christ.  He is our perfect example and we should be striving to be Him.  Keep in mind, we need God's grace in order to live up to His standard.  In the same way, we are saved by grace, we are to live by grace as well.

We learn from this verse that there was no guile in His mouth.  This means there was no deceit in His mouth.  Jesus Christ spoke and lived the truth.  I am sure there are opportunities presented to us to "stretch" the truth.  Stretching the truth is nothing more than a lie and is considered guile.  It could happen at school, work, or even having conversation amongst friends.  By God's grace we need to resist this temptation and tell the truth.  Deception is so common in our day.  Unfortunately it finds its way into many Christians lives as well and it will only bring destruction.

If God is convicting you of some form of guile, now is the time for repentance.  Turn from the deception today and start living in TRUTH!
