Our Scripture reading today is Luke 4:14-20.
Verse 17, "And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Esaias. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written,"
The Word of God is to be the foundation for our faith and practice. It must be our final authority. Jesus Christ sets the example during His earthly ministry of reading God's Word at the place of worship. The reading, teaching and preaching of God's Word is to be the central point of every gathering we have at Anchor Baptist Church. It still is and always will be alive and full of power.
We have everything we need for our every day life in the Word of God. There is spiritual, physical, and emotional help within the pages of Scripture. There is no other book like it. Our problem in Canada is not a lack of Bibles. Our problem is either not reading it or applying it. In some cases, it might be both of those. I guess it is very difficult to apply what you do not know. It is very dangerous to neglect the Word of God. We will become easy prey for our enemy when God's Word is no longer a part of our daily life.
