Our Scripture reading today is Luke 5:29-32.
Verse 31-32, "And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance."
There were some in Jesus day that knew they needed help and then there were others who were blinded to all the problem they had.  It seemed to be the religious leaders who had issues with Jesus fellowshipping with publicans and sinners.  “Nothing puzzled the religionists of the Lord’s time more than His eating and drinking on terms of familiarity with publicans and sinners. Here He revealed the reason for doing so. He was among men as the great Physician.” (Morgan) The religious leaders were as sin sick as anyone else.  Their problem was they did not see it that way.
The people that Jesus came to help were sick in the soul.  They, like us, needed a touch on the inside from the great Physician.  The Lord Jesus is a One of a kind Doctor.  He is always available.  He always know what our problem is.  He knows exactly what to do about our problem.  He even pays the Doctor bill.  I think the problem we face is will we follow through on what the Doctor tells us to do?  For some, it means turning from unbelief and turning to Jesus Christ for salvation.  For others, it is turning from a particular besetting sin and turning to the overcoming power the Spirit of God provides.  Listen to what the Doctor is telling you and live by His instructions.
