Our Scripture reading today is Acts 6:1-4.
Verse 4, "But we will give ourselves continually to PRAYER, and to the ministry of the word."
As the early church began to grow, there was an emphasis placed on prayer.  This emphasis must continue today!  As one preacher said, "We must place the emphasis where God places the emphasis."  There is no doubt in my mind that prayer IS emphasized by God almighty.
1 Thessalonians 5:17, "PRAY without ceasing."
1 Timothy 2:8, "I will therefore that men PRAY every where..."
Ephesians 6:18, "PRAYING always with all PRAYER and SUPPLICATION in the Spirit..."
Colossians 1:3, "We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, PRAYING always for you."
How much of an emphasis are we placing on prayer?  Could we place a greater emphasis?
I would like to encourage and challenge ALL the men of Anchor Baptist to attend our weekly prayer meeting on Sunday mornings at 8.  This is where the real work of the ministry is accomplished.  We desperately need the wisdom and power of God.  We need humble men and women to faithfully seek His will to be done.  Let us ALL rise up and PRAY today.
