Our Scripture reading today is Exodus 12:12-13.
Verse 13, "And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt."
The last of the ten plagues was the death of the firstborn. Pharaoh had hardened his heart one too many times. In order for the firstborn to be spared there needed to be blood applied to the doorposts of their homes. The death angel would see the blood of the lamb and would pass over that house. God's eternal death angel is still passing over those who have the blood of the Lamb applied to their heart.
It is the blood of Jesus Christ that was pictured in Exodus 12. For we read in 1 John 1:7, "But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin." This is the only way to avoid spiritual death. Jesus Christ is the Lamb that was slain so sinners could be redeemed and set free. Have you applied His precious blood to your sin record? Are you ready to meet God? Jesus said in John 14:6, "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
If you are not 100% sure Heaven is your eternal home, turn to Jesus Christ today and apply His sinless blood to your sinful heart. He will set you free and give you eternal life.
