Our Scripture reading today is John 10:27-30.
Verse 30, "I and my Father are one."
The verse of the day only has 6 words, but the message is endless.  Jesus Christ is God!  It upset the religious elites of His day and it continues to ruffle feathers today.  It is quite ok to speak of God, but when we move the conversation to Jesus Christ and Him being the Son of God there will be much greater push back from most "religious" people.  Jesus Christ and God are one in power, essence, and will.  They are co-equal, co-existent, and eternally existent.
This essential doctrine must be taught and re-taught to every generation.  It is the foundation of all that we believe and practice.  We have eternal salvation due to the truth of this doctrine.  Jesus Christ was the sufficient sacrifice for our sins because He was and is the Son of God.  Matthew 17:5, "While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him."  Psalm 2:7, "I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee."
