Our Scripture reading today is Mark 13:5-6.
Verse 6, "For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many."
One of, if not the greatest tool Satan has in his tool bag is deception. Every lie can be traced back to the father of all lies, the devil. He has even made is way into so called "churches." He is the spirit behind anything and everything antichrist. There is much being done today under the umbrella of church that is completely opposite of what God's Word teaches. The devil is an expert at mixing truth and error which equals ERROR.
Our greatest weapon against deception is the Word of God. We are sanctified through His Word. (John 17:17) We are equipped to do spiritual battle through His Word. Hebrews 4:12, "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart."
The follower of Jesus Christ must not neglect time in the Word of God. If we build our lives on the Bible and seek the leading of the Spirit of God, we will be able to discern error from truth!
