Our Scripture reading today is John 12:37-38.
Verse 37, "But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:"
It is rather amazing that there were many people who walked with the Lord Jesus and ended up walking away from Him.  There were many people who saw His miracles and yet their eyes were never opened to the fact that He is the Son of God.  This was in fact prophesied in Isaiah 6:9, 10, "And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed."
We are possibly living in a time when the Word of God is more accessible than in any other time in human history.  However, the people attending church are decreasing all the time.  While church attendance does not make someone a Christian, it is an indicator of someone's spiritual growth or lack thereof.  All believers are in dwelt with the author of the Scriptures.  God's Spirit lives within us and enables us to understand and apply God's Word.  I believe we have God's miracles in and around us every day.  Why are fewer people coming to church?  Why are fewer people sharing their faith?  Why are fewer people surrendering to God's will?  I come to the same conclusion as what John wrote in today's passage.  Faith has yet to truly become personal.  In some cases, people that claim to be saved are not saved.  In others, they have been pulled back into living for this world and not the glory of God.
It does not help us to identify what others are doing wrong.  We must examine ourselves and be willing to confess and forsake the sin of unbelief.  We must be willing to humble ourselves and be renewed in our mind.  Don't miss today's miracles!!
