Our Scripture reading today is Daniel 1:5-8.
Verse 8, "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself."
This young man, Daniel, lived his life with and on purpose. His purpose and way of life were not changed by his surroundings. He took several bold stands for the one true God. It would appear he had been reared by Godly parents to fear God and keep His commandments. Daniel's example of character living inspite of outward influence is one that we should seek God's help in emulating.
In every generation, I am sure people thought times were changing. We can definitely see it in our generation. This fact should not affect the way we live our lives. Our purpose for life is to bring glory to our Heavenly Father. My purpose is to live holy and humbly pointing people to the Saviour, Jesus Christ. It matters not what government says. I am not lovingly speak and live the TRUTH. Examine your walk today and see if the government, your friends or family, or His Word is leading the way.
