Our Scripture reading today is Luke 24:26-27.
Verse 27, "And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself."
What an amazing opportunity these men had to be taught the scriptures by the Living Word! The Lord Jesus explained Who He was by using the writings of the Old Testament prophets. These men had surely read what Jesus was using to teach them. Now, they had Someone to expound on what they had read. Jesus taught the truth about Himself by using the Word of God.
If it is good enough for Jesus Christ to teach from the Word of God, it is good enough for us too. By expounding the scriptures it means that Jesus stayed close to the text. He preached and taught the Word. 2 Timothy 4:2, "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine." It is always advisable to speak about what the Bible says before we speak about what we believe. God's Word has the power to change any and all lives!
