Our Scripture reading today is Psalm 17:4-5.
Verse 15, "Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my footsteps slip not."
The Psalmist is asking for God's protection for life's daily journey.  He is going the right direction ("thy paths"), but this does not guarantee he will not slip.  "What! Slip in God's ways? Yes, the road is good, but our feet are evil, and therefore slip, even on the King's highway." (Spurgeon)  Even on our strongest day, we are in desperate need of being held up by God's everlasting arms.
It would do us well to pray this verse every day.  The enemy has many tricks up his sleeve seeking to cause us to slip and fall.  His ultimate goal is that we never get up.  By God's grace we can walk on the right path, but we can also avoid the wiles of the devil and STAY on the right path.  Psalm 119:105, "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."
