Our Scripture reading today is Luke 23:35-38.

Verse 35, "And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God."

The Lord Jesus was willing to give Himself a ransom for many and that included the rulers and others who were mocking Him.  Had He saved Himself, no one would have any hope.  Had Jesus come down from the cross, we would not have forgiveness and the promise of Heaven.  The Anointed One fulfilled every prophecy written about Him in the Old Testament.  The Anointed One humbly drank of the bitter cup of God's wrath so sinful man could be redeemed.  Hallelujah!  What a Saviour!!

  1. “Man of Sorrows!” what a name
    For the Son of God, who came
    Ruined sinners to reclaim.
    Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
  2. Bearing shame and scoffing rude,
    In my place condemned He stood;
    Sealed my pardon with His blood.
    Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
  3. Guilty, vile, and helpless we;
    Spotless Lamb of God was He;
    “Full atonement!” can it be?
    Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
  4. Lifted up was He to die;
    “It is finished!” was His cry;
    Now in Heav’n exalted high.
    Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
  5. When He comes, our glorious King,
    All His ransomed home to bring,
    Then anew His song we’ll sing:
    Hallelujah! What a Saviour!
