Our Scripture reading today is Matthew 13:24-30.

Verse 26, "But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also."

We find in this parable by Jesus Christ that He describes corruption among the people of God.  The wheat represents the people of God and the tares look the look, but they are not wheat.  In this case, they are not true Christians.  This passage indicates to us that there are unsaved people sitting in church today.  While I may not be able to say all churches have unsaved people sitting in the chairs or pews, I do believe most churches have tares siting amongst the wheat.

Our preaching and teaching must include a call to salvation.  As someone once said, "Preaching demands a verdict..."  We ought to be faithfully praying for those who attend church services or activities.  Specifically praying for the lost to humble themselves and turn to Jesus Christ for their salvation.  Another prayer request is for the protection of the fruit (saved) as it mixes in with the tares (lost).  We are in this world, but should not be like this world.  Our daily responsibility is to let our light shine.  Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
