Our Scripture reading today is Acts 4:31-33.
Verse 31, "And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness."
It is clear from these few verses that God provides many blessings when we pray.  These believers were filled with the Holy Ghost, filled with boldness, filled with unity, filled with power and filled with great grace.  No doubt, we would all want these to be seen in our lives as well.  The key to it all is found in verse 31, "When they had prayed..."  The prayers of God's people always precede the blessings of God.  As we read on Sunday morning, "For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened."  Matthew 7:8
What these believers received after this prayer meeting is exactly what is lacking in many lives today.  We can conclude that the reason they are lacking is because we are not asking, seeking and knocking as we should.  God and His Word have not changed over time.  The question we should all be asking is, "Have I allowed life's challenges and difficulties to draw me closer to Jesus or driven me away from Him?"  The early church needed what God provided when they prayed.  The church of 2021 has the same needs.  Let's all seek Him in a greater way!
