Our Scripture reading today is 1 Peter 1:17-20.
Verses 18-19, "Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:"
We are assured by the Apostle Peter that our home in Heaven is not secured by following the traditions of men or of wealth. If this were the case, we would be in serious trouble. No one has fully followed any traditions or truth for that matter, and how much wealth would it take?
Our faith is not in these, but in the finished work of the Son of God. The sinless, shed blood of our Sacrifice gives eternal life in Heaven to all who will believe. (Acts 16:31) I really like the words at the beginning of verse 18, "...as ye KNOW..." By the grace of God, I l know that my sinful soul has been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. By the grace of God, I know that am secure in the hands of my heavenly Father. (John 10:28-29) The child of God has nothing to worry about! REJOICE!!
