Our Scripture reading today is 1 John 2:16, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."
Not a day goes by that Satan does not use one of if not all three of these temptations listed in the above verse in our lives. This is the character of the world. It should not be part of our character. We are in this world, but we should not be of this world.
It is vital that we are filled with the Spirit. As we yield to Him, God's Spirit will keep us from being led astray by the allurements of this world. He will enable us to overcome the temptations that are sure to come our way. Thus providing us with the ability to honour and glorify God while living in a sin cursed world.
