Our Scripture reading today is Exodus 17:8-13.
Verse 12, "But Moses' hands were heavy; and they took a stone, and put it under him, and he sat thereon; and Aaron and Hur stayed up his hands, the one on the one side, and the other on the other side; and his hands were steady until the going down of the sun."
The battle against Amalek was not a one man battle.  As we see in this text, there was a team of people needed to overcome the enemy and be victorious.  There were soldiers fighting and there were men interceding before God on their behalf.  Moses could not handle the weight of the battle alone.  He needed the help of Aaron and Hur.  The soldiers could not handle the weight of the battle alone.  They needed the prayers from the mountain in order to be victorious.
Our daily walk is filled with different challenges.  Each one can be overcome as we follow God's plan.  There is a time to pray and there is a time to advance.  Sometimes we are doing both of these at the same time.  The work of prayer is exactly that.  Prayer is work.  Colossians 4:12, "Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God."  Our spiritual leaders are men and women who need our prayers.  Moses might be one of the greatest leaders to ever live.  Our text reminds us that Moses needed help.  As we pray for one another, we come along side and give strength to see the victory!
