Our Scripture reading today is Ephesians 5:22-33.
Once again, we are reminded of the emphasis placed on having a strong, Biblical marriage.  It is the responsibility of the husband and the wife to examine God's Word and see what role they are to fulfill within the home.  I am not to focus on whether or not my wife is doing her job in the marriage.  The same could be said about my wife's focusing on me.  Ephesians 5:33 says, "Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband."  The husband is to love his wife whether or not she honours him and the wife is to honour her husband whether or not he loves her.
The goal in marriage is to bring honour and glory to God (1 Corinthians 10:31) and to picture the relationship between Jesus Christ and born again believers.  "This cause" referred to in verse 31 is exactly what Paul was referring to in marriage.  Two become one in marriage just as we are one in Jesus Christ.  Romans 12:5, "So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another."  Marriage math is 1 plus 1 equals 1.  I would like to encourage everyone reading this devotional to take a few minutes and pray for the marriages in your family, friends, and church.  The attack is real, but we have the spiritual help needed to overcome and have a strong marriage!
