Our Scripture reading today is Nahum 1:7, "The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and
he knoweth them that trust in him."
A quote by Spurgeon on this verse reminded me not to look too far ahead in life. Wisdom will keep me
from drifting into the future of which I have no control over. “Remember that it is only a day; it is not a
week, nor a month, and God will not permit the devil to add an extra hour to that day; it is a ‘day of trouble.’
There is an end to all our griefs” (Spurgeon)
We should also be reminded that God's mercies are new every morning. If we think that much of His mercy
was used up on one particular day, there will be plenty more waiting for us in the morning. Our eyes should
be fixed on the One Who is faithful to provided whatever we need. Only trust Him...only trust Him now!
