Our Scripture reading today is Hebrews 9:27-28, "And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation."
We probably all know what it is like to accidentally miss an appointment.  Whether it be the doctor or the dentist, I am quite sure we have all missed one at some point in our life.  Maybe you are the exception.  Our text this morning tells us of an appointment that will not be missed.  In fact, this appointment was scheduled the day we were born.  There are a couple exceptions in the Bible of people that never died once: Enoch and Elijah.  In addition, there are several who were raised from the dead.  This would mean they (other than Jesus Christ) would have died twice.  We also know that there will be millions of people who are taken in the Rapture.  This means they will not die as well.  These exceptions do not contradict this passage.  They are exceptions that prove the rule.
For the unbeliever, it is crucial to come to Jesus Christ before your appointment with death.  Once that appointment has taken place, there is no opportunity to change your mind and get saved.  If you have never accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour, please stop reading this and call on Jesus to be your Saviour.  He will save you right now.  Please watch this very important video: https://youtu.be/42qGZtjWv78.
For the believer, it is crucial that we live every day for the glory and honour of our Heavenly Father.  We need to be laying up treasure in Heaven.  We need to be drawing closer and closer to Him.  Far too many Christians are wasting precious days on the temporal and not investing them in the eternal.
