Today's Scripture reading is 2 Samuel 14:22-24.
Verse 24, "And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned to his own house,"
The "king" is David and "Absalom" is his son.  It would actually be two years before Absalom would be allowed to stand before his father.  Why would David not bring his son immediately into his presence?  It definitely appears that King David had not truly forgiven Absalom for the killing of Amnon (Absalom's brother).  Following Amnon's death, King David failed to deal with it properly and now this brings us to our text today.
King David's inability to forgive and correct his son, Absalom, would lead to more rebellion than he could ever have imagined.  Absalom was still responsible for his actions.  He could not simply point a finger at this dad and say, "You made me be rebellious."  Although, David, being his example of authority, was equally guilty in how he contributed to the family friction.
Don't delay in compassionately confronting, correcting, and forgiving someone today.
