Our Scripture reading today is Nehemiah 6:11, "And I said, Should such a man as I flee? and who is there, that, being as I am, would go into the temple to save his life? I will not go in."

Nehemiah was not a preacher. He was the kings cupbearer and Nehemiah was
burdened for the condition of Jerusalem. The destruction that he heard of moved him
to action. He is given permission by the king to go see or himself how bad it was and
to do something about it. When Nehemiah arrived, his eyes affected his heart. So much
so that he wept over what he saw. This emotion led him to action. He made a plan to
rebuild the walls of Jerusalem. Not everyone was on board with the project. Opposition
came and we see in this verse the thought of fleeing. Nehemiah stood his ground and
led his team to finish the building project in fifty-two days!

There are many places where you are needed to build lives. There is destruction every
where in our world. God is calling men and women like Nehemiah to rise up and
build for the King! Will you answer His call to serve Him today? Will you flee or will
you stand when opposition comes? God's grace applied will enable us to remain
faithful for His glory.
