Our Scripture reading today is Judges 7:18, "When I blow with a trumpet, I and all that are with me, then blow ye the trumpets also on every side of all the camp, and say, The sword of the LORD, and of Gideon."
God gave an amazing victory in a very unusual way. Victory happened because the people
followed the instructions they were given. I am sure they wondered if Gideon had bonked
his head or maybe he mis-heard what God had told him to do. Blowing trumpets and
shouting were not actually on the top of the list of military strategies. This is did not keep
them from obeying the leader God had given them for this battle.
The people and situations are not the same, but God is never changing. He has given us
an instruction manual called the Bible. He has also given us various people that will
explain His Word through preaching and teaching. There are times when it will sound
like what it did in Judges 7. It is our responsibility to follow the leading of the Lord.
This will involve our trusting and obeying what He tells us to do. His will and ways are
always for our good and His glory.
