Today’s Scripture reading is
Romans 9:14-16.
Verse 16, "...but of God that sheweth mercy."
God's mercy has been defined as not getting what we deserve. God's mercy can be seen over and over again in the Scriptures as well as in your life and mine. One particular verse that comes to mind most often when referring to mercy is Lamentations 3:22. " It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not." What do we deserve? We as sinners deserve to die twice. We deserve to die physically and spiritually. Spiritual death is described in Romans 6:23 and Revelation 20:14,15.
This would be an excellent time to thank the Lord for His mercy! This would be an excellent time to tell others of the Lord's mercy. When someone dies without a relationship with God through Jesus Christ, there isn't anything God's mercy can do for them. The judgment of God will then be in place. Give the Gospel message to someone today.
