Today's Scripture reading is John 15:9-13.
Verse 13, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends."
The Lord Jesus sets the example that we are to follow in every area of our lives. He challenges the disciples in this passage to love one another as He has loved them. We should apply the same example today. “No man can carry his love for his friend farther than this: for, when he gives up his life, he gives up all that he has. This proof of my love for you I shall give in a few hours; and the doctrine which I recommend to you I am just going to exemplify myself.” (Clarke)
If we love someone, it will move us to action. Jesus told them that there was no greater love than to lay down one's life. There is no question this act involves some kind of action. Some have rightly said that love is spelled, T-I-M-E. When we give our time, we are giving a portion of our life. Ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to someone who needs you to lay down your time for them today.
